Casualty of War

Lariel coughed and spat out blood. Pain seared through his gut from the pike that so pierced him. His mind realed as tears began to burn at his cheeks. He was going to die. And in what a horrible way, days, days till the end. With a strained effort he looked up at the war above, angels and demons fought for dominance.

Darq looked down, an angel still struggled in the expansive forest of impaled divinity. He flew downward to meet the creature. He tipped the male's face up and studied the sunkissed features. He was beautiful. When saphire eyes opened to look at him the angel struggled, then moaned in pain. "A pretty thing, this is all I can do to help," he raised his sword.

Lariel smiled at the demon and when he saw the sword all he could feel was love. Tears flowed. "Thank you."
